The Sweet Air Area, with 1,250 acres, is one of Gunpowder's largest enclaves. This area comprises 18 miles of trails that straddle the Little Gunpowder Falls, which forms the border between Harford and Baltimore Counties. Please be considerate to others and dispose of your rubbish properly. It is not permissible to consume alcohol.
Except on Christmas Day, the restaurant is open all year. The Hammerman Area, Gunpowder's primary day-use park, offers a 1,500-foot beach and swimming area on the Gunpowder River's banks.
Raven Falls, located in the Hereford region of Gunpowder Falls State Park, is the park's only real waterfall. This "slide board" waterfall has a very tiny incline that allows visitors to simply ascend up the falls.
Veterans and children in car seats are free to attend. From Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, there is a $5 per person service charge ($7 per person for non-Maryland residents) to enter the Hammerman Area on weekends and holidays.

The popular Mill Pond Cottage is located in the Hereford Area, which is located in northern Baltimore County east of Prettyboy Dam and is perfect for hiking, fishing, canoeing, and kayaking.
