Patapsco Valley State Park is a public leisure area that stretches 32 miles south and west of Baltimore, Maryland, along the Patapsco River. The state park spans approximately 14,000 acres and includes a variety of constructed sites.
Monday through Friday: $2 in-state per vehicle. Out-of-state vehicles will be charged $4. Buses: $10 per bus (a bus is a vehicle that can transport more than 9 people).
Our site, 406, was as secluded as state parks come. The bathhouse was spotless and well-kept. In a Travel Trailer, we camped at Patapsco Valley State Park - Hollofield Area.
Unless otherwise indicated, swimming is permitted in all sections along the river. This is an unsecured, swim-at-your-own-risk location, and swimmers should be wary of strong currents and jagged stones along the river's bottom, as they should be in all areas of the river.
In the state park and adjacent area, numerous sightings of the American black bear have been documented. A sighting near Catonsville, Maryland, was captured on film by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police in 2016.
