Hart Miller Island is located east of Baltimore, Maryland, at the mouths of the Back and Middle Rivers, where they flow into the Chesapeake Bay. Hart Island and Miller Island were once two different islands, but it is now almost entirely man-made.
The only way to get to Hart-Miller Island right now is by private boat. The closest public boat launch is at Baltimore County's Rocky Point Park. Boat mooring is accessible off the State Park Beach at Hart-Miller.
Trips out to Hart Miller Island are only recommended for our more experienced paddlers. If you're new to the area, we recommend going left and staying close to the beach while exiting Island View. This path will lead you to the lovely, tranquil bay coves.
Hart-Miller Island State Park is a state-owned public recreation area at the mouth of Back River in Maryland, on Hart-Miller Island, a man-made landfill linking three natural Chesapeake Bay islands—Hart, Miller, and Pleasure.
